Straight ×2 math, plus tips for what doesn’t scale evenly.

Try it. Change the servings and every amount follows.

    What it does

    Paste it in

Copy the ingredients from a recipe and paste them, one per line. RecipeScale reads cups, spoons, grams, ounces, counts like 2 eggs, and fractions like 1/2 or 1¼. From 1.0.1 on, it also reads ranges like 2–3 and decimal commas, skips bullets and checkboxes, and takes the servings from a “Serves 4” line.

    Amounts you can measure

Results land on ⅛, ¼, ⅓, ½ or ¾ instead of 7/20 of a cup, and three teaspoons become a tablespoon. Prefer decimals? Switch in Settings.

    US or metric

One tap switches between cups and ounces, or milliliters and grams. Teaspoons and tablespoons stay spoons. Cups become milliliters, not guessed weights. From 1.0.1 on, the UK setting reads a pint as 568 ml and gives weights in grams.

    Tips for tricky ingredients

Double or halve a recipe and baking powder, yeast, strong spices, extracts and salty sauces get a short note with an amount to try. The straight math stays on screen, so you decide.

    Cook mode

Tap Begin and the list turns into a checklist. Tick off each ingredient, and each step if you added the method. The screen stays awake while you cook.

    Your cookbook

Save recipes, star favorites, add private notes and search them. They sync through your own iCloud. The free version keeps 10 recipes, Pro keeps as many as you like.

    Help

How do I get Pro back on a new iPhone?

Sign in with the Apple ID you bought Pro with. In RecipeScale, tap the gear on the Scale or Cookbook screen to open Settings, then tap Restore next to “Already subscribed?” at the top. The purchase screen has the same Restore link at the bottom.

    How do I cancel Pro?

On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then RecipeScale. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date and you won’t be charged again. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription. Lifetime is a single payment, so there’s nothing to cancel.

How do I delete my data, including iCloud?

From 1.0.1 on, open Settings in RecipeScale and tap Clear all data. That removes your recipes, settings and the recipe you have open from this iPhone. With iCloud sync on, it also clears them in iCloud, and your other devices with 1.0.1 or later drop the same recipes on their next sync.

In 1.0, start with iCloud, because while sync is on, RecipeScale brings your recipes back from there. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, Manage Account Storage, RecipeScale, and delete the data. Then open Settings in RecipeScale and tap Clear all data, or delete the app. There, Clear all data removes your recipes and settings. A few small things, like the recipe you last had open, stay until you delete the app.

A line wasn’t read right. What can I do?

RecipeScale reads each line as amount, unit, then ingredient, like “1 1/2 cups milk”.

From 1.0.1 on, it skips bullets and checkboxes copied from a website, and reads “1-1/2”, “1½”, ranges like “2–3” and decimal commas like “0,5 l”. A line without an amount, like “salt to taste”, is kept as written and marked as not scaled. If a line still comes out wrong, tap it in the scaled list to fix it.

In 1.0, fix the text before you tap Scale it:

    • Remove bullets or checkboxes copied from a website.
    • Write “1 1/2” or “1½”, not “1-1/2”.
    • Use a dot for decimals: “0.5 l”, not “0,5 l”.
    • Lines without an amount, like “salt to taste”, are counted as one and scaled anyway. Leave them out or ignore them.

Scaled lines can’t be edited in 1.0. If a line still comes out wrong in either version, send me the line as you pasted it.

How do I report a bug?

Email me with your iOS version, the RecipeScale version (at the bottom of Settings) and what you did right before it happened. If it’s about a recipe, paste the ingredient text too. A screenshot helps a lot.
