Terms of use

Using Shade

By downloading or using Shade you agree to these terms and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Shade is for personal use. Please don’t reverse engineer, resell or redistribute it.

Shade Pro

Pro is optional. It comes as a monthly or a yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase, and adds patterns, the report for your doctor, pressure alerts and the CSV export. The price is shown in the app before you buy.

Subscriptions are charged to your Apple ID and renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. If a free trial is shown for a plan, it becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before, and any unused part of a trial ends when you subscribe. You can manage or cancel in Shade’s settings or in your iPhone’s Settings under your name and Subscriptions. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription. The lifetime purchase is paid once and never renews.

Refunds

Apple processes all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

A diary, not a medical device

Shade is a diary for your own notes. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Its counts, calendars and patterns come from what you enter and from weather and Health data; they are not causes and say nothing about what will happen. The page “When to get help now” lists general warning signs and is not personal advice. Talk to your doctor about your headaches and your medication, and in an emergency call your local emergency number (911 in the US, 112 in Europe).

Pressure alerts are weather information. They can be late, wrong or missing, for example without a connection or when iOS doesn’t run the background check.

Your entries

What you log in Shade is yours. I have no copy of it. Phones get lost and storage can fail, so if your diary matters to you, export a backup from time to time.

No warranty

Shade is provided as it is. I work to keep it correct and running, but can’t promise it will always be free of errors.

Liability

As far as the law allows, I’m not liable for indirect or consequential damages from using the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent, gross negligence or injury to life, body or health.

Changes

I may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with the date at the top.
