Privacy policy

SteepPilot has no server, and I don’t collect your data. Here is exactly what leaves your iPhone, and why.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you put into SteepPilot is stored on your device: your journal, tea collection, presets and settings. There is no SteepPilot account and no SteepPilot server.
iCloud
iCloud sync is on unless you turn it off in SteepPilot’s Settings. SteepPilot then keeps a copy of your journal, teas, presets and settings in your private iCloud database, so they reach your other Apple devices. Apple stores that copy under your Apple ID. I can’t see it. Turning sync off stops new copies, but doesn’t delete the one already there. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
Purchases
Apple handles payment for SteepPilot Pro. To check whether Pro is active, the app asks RevenueCat each time it starts. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID, your purchase receipts, your IP address and basic device details such as the iOS version. RevenueCat does not get your name, email or payment details, and neither do I.
Fonts and icons
Versions before 1.0.1 load their typeface and icons from Google Fonts when they start, which means Google receives your device’s IP address. Google’s privacy policy applies to that. From 1.0.1 on, the fonts and icons ship inside the app and nothing is loaded from Google.
No tracking
SteepPilot has no analytics, no ads, no tracking SDKs and no advertising identifier. Apart from Apple’s iCloud and App Store, RevenueCat and, in 1.0.0, the fonts above, it doesn’t connect to anything.
Notifications and permissions
SteepPilot 1.0.0 doesn’t send notifications and doesn’t ask to. From 1.0.1 on, it asks for permission when you start your first session. If you allow it, it tells you when each steep is done. These notifications are scheduled on your iPhone and never pass through a server.
SteepPilot doesn’t use your camera, photos, location, contacts or clipboard. The chime at the end of an infusion is made on your iPhone.
Deleting your data
From 1.0.1 on, open SteepPilot’s Settings and tap Clear all data. That removes your journal, tea collection, presets, settings and any running session from this iPhone. With iCloud sync on, it also clears them in iCloud, and your other devices with 1.0.1 or later drop the same journal entries, teas and presets on their next sync.
In 1.0.0, Clear all data removes your journal, tea collection and settings from this iPhone. Your presets stay, and so does the copy in iCloud. While iCloud sync is on, SteepPilot loads that copy again. To remove everything, delete the iCloud copy first: open the iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, Manage Account Storage, SteepPilot, and delete the data. Then delete the app.
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on that device.
Children
SteepPilot doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data is held about you and have it corrected or deleted, and you can complain to a data protection authority. Because SteepPilot keeps nothing on its own servers, most requests go to Apple or RevenueCat, but write to me and I’ll help.
